In June 2013, we received the news that our proposal had been selected for an operating grant from Fundamental Rights and Citizienship progrem from the European Commission.
One of the projects that fell within the grant was the compilation of a series of 4 newsletters centred around the theme “justice for children of prisoners”.
The intention of the project was to create a special edition series of newsletters to serve as a way of sharing information cross-culturally regarding the various elements of justice relating to this children of prisoners across Europe – as they are frequently overlooked in judicial systems.
The four themes were as follows:
- Prisons across Europe: National focuses on protocols relating to children of prisoners
- Prisons visits & families: Impacts, successes & struggles
- Police, judges & sentencing: Arrests, trials & children’s rights
- Looking forward: Impacts, successes & obstacles
Project Coordinator Hannah Lynn contacted outside agencies, NGOs, judges, police officers and prison staff across Europe to reach out for newsletter article submissions or – in some cases – interviews.
Professionals from various fields relating to justice offered their expertise and insight at the national and European level.
All four of the editions have now officially been released.
