The Czech Helsinki Committee has been successful in advocating for children’s rights to visit a parent in prison and are now holding days for assisted prison visits. These visits include children in foster care. Many of these visits are to female prisons and in these cases, mothers get to meet and have lunch with their children and talk with staff.

They still have many difficulties to face as there are limits to how much contact prisoners can have with those outside, and the prisons have a ways to go in making the spaces welcoming for children, but the visits are a move in the right direction in the Czech Helsinki Committee’s efforts to secure the right for children to visit their parents.
