The Child Rights Action Group (CRAG), which consists of 15 child rights organisations including Children of Prisoners Europe, spearheaded an open letter to Members of European Parliament. The main aim of this letter is to remind all MEPs of the importance of children’s rights in their work, the existence of the Child Rights Manifesto that was drafted by CRAG and to encourage newly and re-elected MEPs to follow in the footsteps of their 97 colleagues who have already signed and pledged to serve as a Child Rights Champion for their 5-year term.
The Members of European Parliament are also invited to participate in a Roundtable discussion on championing children’s rights in the European Parliament this Wednesday 24th September in Brussels and are asked for support in the creation of a more permanent mechanism in the European Parliament to mainstream childrens’ rights.
