Child Rights Connect held their annual General Assembly 9-10 May. Along with 7 other organisations, COPE was accepted as a new member of the network. COPE has worked with Child Rights Connect (CRC) for the past three years as part of the Working Group on Children of Incarcerated Parents. Among other activities the “The Rights of Children of Incarcerated Parents: Replicating good practice from Italy,” event in Geneva on 1 February was organised by the working group. Child Rights Connect is a global child rights network that was originally set up in 1983 to influence the drafting of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and has been working ever since to connect the daily lives of children to the United Nations. Child Rights Connect works to advocate for child rights internationally; supports and monitors the work of the Committee on the Rights of the Child; participates actively in the drafting of international child rights instruments; builds the capacity of national and regional NGOs and coalitions; produces practical tools and conducts research on evolving aspects of child rights. As a member COPE is looking forward to working closely with the Child Rights Connect network in the future. Read more about Child Rights Connect and find their key publications.
