The international conference “Reconnecting through Learning and Play” co-hosted by Bedford Row Family Project, COPE, Mary Immaculate College and Limerick Prison will take place in Limerick on June 8.
How can we use play to strengthen the child-parent bond during a parent’s imprisonment ?
How can schools foster compassionate and supportive environments for children who have a parent in prison?
This conference will highlight novel and creative approaches to protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of children with a parent in prison. Attendees will hear from senior Irish officials and COPE partners in Europe, who are all working to support children with imprisoned parents. A panel discussion will consider cross-sectoral approaches to meeting children’s multiple and varying needs when a parent is imprisoned. Bedford Row will present their work in Limerick Prison and the community. More information regarding the conference agenda will be available shortly.
