The conference, entitled “My parents have been arrested, what now? Public Policies for the future”, will begin by considering the current awareness levels and measures for children with imprisoned parents in Portugal. Conference attendees will hear from the Portuguese Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Republic, as well as different prison service representatives. Conference speakers will include a mix of academics and legal professionals. They will speak to the importance of providing appropriate cross-sectoral support to children impacted by parental imprisonment, from the moment of a parent’s arrest to their release. The afternoon session of the conference will focus on ways to build Public Policies for the future in Portugal, taking into account the examples of good practice from across Europe provided earlier in the day.
The conference will be livestreamed and recorded for those unable to attend in person.
