We are sad to announce the death of COPE member Ann Adalist-Estrin, a visionary champion who shifted ways of seeing and working with children who have a parent in prison. Ann was based in the United States, yet engaged frequently with issues in Europe and internationally. She was one of three founding members of COPE’s Wise Persons Group and presented regularly at COPE conferences, roundtables and networking events. A great luminary, Ann challenged generally held opinions and ideas and changed our perspectives, quoting Albert Einstein at the end of her last COPE conference speech, in Portugal in 2022: “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them”. She changed thinking around children impacted by imprisonment and addressed their complex issues and we owe it to her legacy to do the same…
