COPE’s long-awaited international conference co-hosted with Exodus will be held in Leiden (and online) on Friday, 12 November 2021 from 9:30-17h. “Time to Act, How to Act?!” will look at the role of key actors across different sectors working in partnership to enhance the rights and wellbeing of children impacted by parental imprisonment. The morning session, to be broadcast, will feature a series of interactive presentations about current support initiatives for children impacted by parental imprisonment, in the Netherlands as well as other countries in Europe. Deputy Children’s Ombudsperson of Croatia Maja Gabelica Šupljika and Ewelina Startek of Probacja Foundation Poland will provide European perspectives, highlighting policy for children and how stakeholders from arrest to release can act to better protect children’s best interests. The afternoon session will feature collaborative roundtables with conference participants and young ambassadors, to explore ways to really drive home issues key to children impacted by parental imprisonment and improve their situation. Young ambassadors will be presenting what they see as the “top actions” at the end of the day.
