In cooperation with the University of Utrecht, Exodus offers parenting training programmes for fathers imprisoned in 18 prisons throughout the Netherlands, benefitting some 120 fathers and their children through eight sessions held once a week. The goal of these sessions is to contribute to the recovery and development of the relationship between parent and child by encouraging fathers to see their relationship through the eyes of the child.

Among other considerations, fathers discuss the difficulty of being honest about their situation with their child, and learn about different parenting styles, including how to father from the confines of detention. These conversations and others occur between trained Exodus volunteers and between five and ten fathers per session.
