In November 2020, COPE member in Finland KRITS published a book for children age 3-8 to help them cope with the emotions related to having a parent in prison. The books are distributed free of charge to children with an imprisoned parent, to professionals working with these children and their families, including NGOs and the prison services. All prisons in Finland have made the book available for children in their family visit rooms. In 2020 alone, KRITS distributed 300 copies. The organisation has ordered 1,000 more for the year 2021. This initiative received wide media coverage. Early 2021, a literary critic specialising in children’s books wrote on their blog that Müru’s Dad is in Prison is the first book intended for children where the prison is illustrated and talked about.
